Asian Party Collection I and II

Sri Mariamman Temple, the oldest Hindus temple in Singapore, has aroused the designer's interest in Indian Arts. These collections are inspired by the Arts of India in the age of Mughals, one of the wealthiest and most powerful dynasties between the 16th and 19th centuries. The rulers of the Mughal Empire were renowned for their lavish lifestyle, love of beauty and vast collection of treasures. The designer is impressed by their cutleries which were inlaid with precious gemstones in the floral patterns in the 17th century. From this, she developed the first collection with floral motifs using pearls. Pearl symbolizes purity and is sacred in the Indian Culture.

The second collection is influenced by the Mughal Paintings; the portraits were decorated with painted gems and set with beautiful frames. She used rubies and diamonds in the jewellery design. These gemstones symbolized royal ownership and were commonly painted in Mughal paintings. The designer thus named these series as Asian Party Collection I & II. It is hoped that wearer of either series would be the most glamorous while attending grand evening functions and could immerse themselves in the opulence of the legendary Mughal Empire with a royal feel.
